Ollie is pictured playing the Piccolo, behind the Drummer.
The occasion is the WO's & Sgt's Back Badge Ball 1957, held at the Depot, Gloucester.
Others making up the Guard were: Drummer Coveney from Bristol. Behind C/Sgt Ollie Halstead, Cpl. Lucus, L/Cpl Tom Gardner, Pte Cedrick Gifford, Geoff Sirdefield [RAPC] and Pte Jim Huish
[Thanks to the late Geoff Sirdefield for the photo]

Numbers attending the reunion each year have increased considerably, due in no small part to the support of the ‘Friends of the Band and Drums’ Officers, Senior and Junior Ranks who were members of the 28th/LXI.

Further information regarding future reunions and details of former members can be viewed (by link)  on

 7. Chairman's Notes. Posted 1st February 2017
From 1994 to the present day we have had some great Reunions we had 308members for our first Reunion in Cheltenham race course and now we average between 60 and 80 members which after 24years is quite heartening last year we had to change our buffet arrangements and comments after were in favour so we look forward to another good night I must once again thank the committee but especially Neil and his girls for their hard work through the year. So get your tickets and I will see you on the night.

Best Wishes,

Jeff Hinchliffe
Hon. Chairman
