The Slashers Directory

On leaving the military many veterans set up their own business, anything from the construction industry to IT services. The Slashers Directory is an opportunity for Glosters & RGBW veterans to advertise any services that they have set up and have to offer.

This service is free the only condition is that you are required to register for an account on this site.

Shown below are the categories in the directory.

Slashers Reunited

I am trying to revive the "Slashers Reunited" so all of the Glosters Veterans can come together, not restricting it to Facebook users.

To that effect I have already imported over 200 members into the site from the details that I inherited and most those on that list would have received an email with their log in details for the site. Unfortunately, some 30 odd of those did not have an email address on record and therefore, unsurprisingly, did not receive the email.

So what to do if you think you are registered but havent received an email? email me here This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and if you are registered I will send you your log in details if not you will have to go through the registration process here.

So once registerd and logged in, what then? You will be able to see items not open to the public, a new item will appear in the top menu "Slashers Reunited" from there you will see various items. These are;

  1. Nominal roll - this shows everyone who is registered onto the website
  2. Your profile - surprisingly shows your profile
  3. Slashers Wall - This is an area where you can interact with each other.
  4. Edit your profile - need I explain this one?
  5. On some pages you wil be able to leave comments once logged in.

The Photograph has been included as a tribute to the Late Ollie Halstead. Ollie is pictured playing the Piccolo, behind the Drummer. The occasion is the WO's & Sgt's Back Badge Ball 1957, held at the Depot, Gloucester. Others making up the Guard were: Drummer Coveney from Bristol. Behind C/Sgt Ollie Halstead, Cpl. FRIENDS OF THE BAND AND DRUMS .

Numbers attending the reunion each year have increased considerably, due in no small part to the support of the ‘Friends of the Band and Drums’ Officers, Senior and Junior Ranks who were members of the 28th/LXI

Update Personal Details

 Badge0004back 1920w

As you know, details of members who have died, on this excellent website.

The webmaster suffers from a major lack of content for the tributes he publishes for members who have died (currently 147 have responded, out of the many hundreds out there).

This knowledge, once held by RHQ at Gloucester, has regrettably been lost.

Understandably, it is highly embarrassing encroaching on the grief of a family to ask for service details of the deceased. Families expect us to have the full knowledge at hand and it is awkward and frustrating being unable to answer their questions.

With this in mind, you are requested to complete the Personal Consent Form. It is simple to complete and will just take a few minutes. Today there is nobody better than you to provide us with these facts.

To reassure you, the information that you supply will be maintained in confidence, in accordance with the Data Protection Act. It will be safely held in the office of the Chairman of the Regimental Association, Col. (Ret’d) Michael Cornwell OBE.

All ranks are invited show your support and appreciation to Phil by completing the form without delay. By doing so you will be giving considerable help to those who will, one day, compile the news of your death and wish to pay tribute to you and your service to our regiment.

Thank you, in advance and hoping to see many of you this year at one or more of the various reunions.

Completing Your Personal Consent Form

Use this Personal Consent form as your personal valediction. On completion it will provide a record of your service history.

The information that you supply will be maintained in confidence in accordance with the Data Protection Act. It will be held in the office of the Chairman of the Regimental Association, Col. (Ret’d) Michael Cornwell OBE.
